The Mallock Club

Historic Motorsport Show 2006

Club Honours Two New Life Members
at the International Historic Motorsport Show

In 1958, Arthur Mallock agreed the sale of a replica U2 chassis to John Hestletine and, with the engineering skills of work colleague Derek Clark from Vauxhall’s competition department, the first non-works Mallock racing car was built and raced in 1960. This sale was most significant as it probably made Mallock the longest established racing car manufacturer in Great Britain that is still in current production.

Since the formation of the Mallock Club in 2005, John and Derek have provided a vast array of photographs and articles from this time to form the basis of the Mallock Club archive.

On the Mallock Club stand at the Historic Motorsport Show on Friday, Richard and Ray Mallock, sons of Arthur, presented Derek Clark with certificates of Honorary Life Membership for himself and John Hestletine.

John and Derek join Max Mosley as the second and third Honorary Life Members of the Mallock Club.

Show Success

Visitors flocked to the Mallock Club stand over the three days of the show, boosting membership and providing some fascinating information on bygone cars and owners.

The main attraction was Ray’s beautifully restored Mk 6b that was driven by Max Mosley at Silverstone in 2004 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Clubmans racing. The stand displayed photographs and a newspaper article detailing Max Mosley’s success driving the Meadspeed Mallock U2 at Brands Hatch in 1967.

The Club extends its sincere thanks to our show sponsors: Peter Burnham, Ray Mallock, Richard and Sue Mallock and Adrian Lester who’s generosity allowed us to exhibit at no cost to the Club.

We also thank our stand stalwarts: Russ Leaviss, Adrian Lester, Richard and Sue Mallock, Peter and Hazel Burnham, Chris and Catherine Burnham and Dave and Sue Boot all of whom put in hours of their time on the three days for the doubtful reward of a free pass (with little time to use it) and very sore feet!
