We knew we were in for
a good holiday when 15 of us turned up for the pre ski walk in Northamptonshire and there was still a good covering of snow
on the ground!
For 2010, we went back to our old favourite resort Sauze d'Oulx in
Italy and the weather and snow were just perfect.
Getting up at 2am to go on holiday was always going to be a bit of a challenge, but when we arrived and
saw the amount snow and the sunshine, we had the feeling that it was going to be a great holiday.
We had 19 in our group staying at the Hotel Splendid, were joined by 4 more on the slopes and Ray's ex-F1 and
Touring Car driver Nicola Larrini. We all tried to keep up with Nicola but as you would expect he was in a class of his
own!
Several of us made the ski
trip over to Montegenevre in France, one day we watched the paraplegic downhill racing at Sestriere, totally inspirational.
Being January, the slopes were very quiet and there were no lift queues, fantastic.
One
of the highlights was that we always met up at the Ciao Pais restaurant at the end of the day, just before the sun set.
After sampling some very alcoholic bombadina's and vin chaud, we had a mile long ski back to our resort
with the piste all to ourselves. It's what memories are made of.
